Some good guesses but no winner! This beautiful shot is of the storage lockers on the Pelican Harbor boardwalk in downtown Sausalito, one of seven working harbors and marinas in town. Founded in the 1970s, the Pelican Harbor was originally designed exclusively for classic wooden yachts. It now offers monthly berthing for both sail and power boats and guest slips for visitors. Want to learn more about Sausalito’s maritime heritage? Tonight, April 30th, from 6:00 - 7:30 PM at the Sausalito Cruising Club, the Sausalito Historical Society is giving a talk about the visionary founders, colorful celebrations and lasting legacies that shaped this unique and special place. Click here for tickets and information.
Due to the retirement of our long time artist-in-residence, Esther Vermeer, the Green Realtor News is seeking photo contest submissions. Send in your surprise locations in either San Francisco or Marin and maybe they’ll be featured in an upcoming issue. Scroll down to see our first guest submission.
Market Update
Marin’s real estate market showed strong momentum in the first quarter of 2025, with buyer activity on the rise and sales outpacing last year. Single-family home sales increased 25% year-over-year, signaling renewed confidence and engagement from buyers. Inventory levels are up, offering buyers more choices. At the end of Q1 active inventory for single family homes was up 10% and the Month’s Supply of Inventory (MSI) now stands at 1:1, indicating a strong seller’s market. In San Francisco, the number of sales for single family homes rose 13% while condos were up 11%, however inventory is down, leading to a tighter market. Interest rates initially dropped at the beginning of the year but have been fluctuating with the news from the White House and stock market volatility. Sales activity at the higher end of the market has been robust with a higher percentage of transactions in cash than is typically expected. This may be due to home buyers choosing to invest in the historically strong Bay Area real estate market in a time of stock fluctuation.
